Beatrice Alemagna was born in Bologna, Italy, 1973.

She is an author and illustrator of children’s books. In 1996 she was awarded her first major accolade, winning first prize in the worldwide illustration competition “Figures Futur” (Paris-France). In 1998 she began working with the Centre Pompidou as a poster artist which continued until 2010.
During the last decade she has received several notable mentions and awards, including:
Attention talent-FNAC, Prix Octogones, Illustrated Book Prize -Rueil, Prix Baobab du salon du livre Montreuil (twice selected), Book Prize Taipei (Taiwan, 2006), Bologna Ragazzi Award (2007) (Special mention) and Prix Andersen Italy (2010).
Alemagna has produced twenty French books, which have also been translated into 13 different languages. She has had solo exhibitions in a wide selection of galleries in France and has also shown in Italy, Portugal and Japan.
In 2009 she created a character for the national Italian newspaper
“L’Unità” (Piccoletta). In 2010 she became the Director of Ramino, a small collection of picture books for Musées Nationaux de France. In 2012 she began two high profile collaborations; the first with French toy manufacturer Djeco and the second with homeware supplier Elica, where Beatrice has designed a range of plates.
