Sanna Annukka is a designer and printmaker. Her distinctive style of bold colour and pattern is influenced by her childhood summers spent in northern Finland. Her memories of camping in the night less Lapland wilderness, the forests, lakes and wildlife remain a constant inspiration.
Her first commercial application back in 2006 saw her design the album Under the Iron Sea, British group Keane’s second million selling album. She has since been in busy demand with clients such as British Vogue, Apple and Vodafone.
Sanna became a designer for Finnish textiles and fashion brand, Marimekko in 2008. Her first collection was a celebration of The Kalevala, Finland’s national literary epic. Her follow up collection in 2012 celebrated the landscapes, architecture and culture of Finland.
Her first book, an illustrated version of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Fir Tree, was published in 2012 and is the beginning of many more illustrated books to come. She now divides her time between screen-printing at her studio, commissioned work, designing and expanding her own range of
self-styled products, sold exclusively through her online shop.
